The Surprise

In the month of June, I had the absolute privilege to travel to Asheville, NC to capture Eliza & Demetrius’ surprise engagement. I stayed in the city for a couple days; one day for myself and the other to be with the couple.

During the first day in the city, I visited the famous Biltmore Estates. I got to explore the gardens and toured inside the mansion. Overall, it was an incredible experience to see how one of the wealthiest people lived over hundred years ago. I shared some awesome photos from that day in my Instagram (@macaspacimages).

The day finally came to capture the proposal. I was nervous and excited at the same time. Knowing one of my best friends is going to be engaged. I arrived at the location and met with the picnic company Demetrius had hired. The weather was uncooperative because the wind was blowing away some of the props she had set up. On top of that, we were hoping and praying the rain clouds stayed away!

Looking back, I wish I had taken a photo of the ditch I was hiding in as they walked up to the picnic. Not knowing if there were snakes or spiders, I risked it all for ‘The Shot’.

To summarize this moment, it turned out PERFECT. The weather was perfect. The lighting was perfect. The surprise was perfect. The pictures turned out… pretty good. What? I have to stay humble. I want to keep these blogs short so enjoy the photos! Until next time!
