The First One: My Love for the Art

Welcome to my first blog! My name is John and I'm a Tampa Bay portrait photographer who loves capturing weddings, couples, families, and fashion! I’ll be posting a blog every other Monday, so stay tuned to hear all about my recent photoshoots, promotions, adventures, and more!

I’m excited for these blogs because it will allow me to dive deeper into topics I can’t explore on other social media platforms. Now, let’s get to the good stuff!

Did you know, I’ve only been doing photography for about two years? My love for this art form began during a 2019 mission trip in Cuba with nothing but my iPhone and a desire to document the experience. At the time I didn’t think much of it and just snapped away. Later though, when I was looking through the photos I took, the one below subtly caught my attention. It was the first photo I ever took that really told me a story.

This sparked a huge amount of curiosity in me! Little did I know that this one photograph and the intrigue it brought would open up a whole new world for me. A world in which my passion was only beginning to grow. In 2020, I would walk around neighborhoods, downtowns, beaches, and parks to take pictures. Even a pandemic couldn’t stop me from picking up my camera.

As I photographed these peaceful, solitary scenes, my passion and curiosity continued to grow. Eventually, I started to photograph people in the “mundane” of their everyday lives and I began to learn something about myself. I love capturing emotions - true genuine emotions. There’s something so pure about it. It brings me to a place where I can reflect on how God created us - beautifully, wonderfully, and fearfully made.

In late 2020, I decided to take my passion for capturing people, emotions, and street photographs into the professional space. That is when my first business, Macaspac Images, was created.

You guys, it is a huge blessing when you can take what you’re passionate about and make a small living out of it. I started by doing solo shoots with friends to continue to grow in my craft and have moved slowly into finding clients in my area. Below are some portraits I have taken over the first couple of years.

Let me end my first blog by telling you how much I love photography. I love the art of it. I love the process of being in the moment. I love creating memories for people that they can cherish forever.

I am excited to connect with you all through these blogs and to bring you along with me on the journey! I want these to be a way for you to share the experience with me when I go on fun trips and try new things. Whatever it was that brought you here, I am grateful that you’re reading this!

In my next blog on Monday March 28 I will be covering a few of the things that I believe are most important to create a fun photoshoot that produces beautiful pictures.

Until next time!
